A Southern home, the places that build us. The atmosphere is all over the place, a wee bit mysterious, a little like home, and somewhat terrifying. It could be your own home, your grandmother's creepy house with the long bedroom that swallows you when you walk in, or the strange neighbor down the street you're not quite sure you want to visit.
If you don't have an old beat up mailbox, are you really southern? And it has to be smashed a tad, from the drunk teens riding the backroads bored out of their wits. Now, that's down South, ya hear.
Every southern story has character archetypes. My favorites are the villains, maniacs, persecuted maidens, femmes fatales, madwomen, magicians, vampires, monsters, demons, angels, fallen angels, revenants, ghosts, skeletons, and of course, the southern Baptists favorite all time, point a finger at him... devil.
